If you can notice that, I just changed my blog's Favicon from the default to my own designed Favicon.
Ya, you may say this is nothing new to those computer experts. But for the novice like me it is still a challenge to do it.
For those who don't know what Favicon is, actually the Favicon is a small icon(image) displayed at the beginning of the address bar of the browser.
The majority of blog lacks a Favicon.ico file and end up using the default. One way to make your blog stand out in the bookmarks is to make a custom icon. The process is actually quite simple,
I'll share out here on how I changed the Favicon of my blog.
This is a common and default Favicon used by all the BlogSpot bloggers. Of course including me.
Lets see how I changed it using the following steps
First step, you need to have creative enough just like me, opsss! Design your own icon and save it as GIF or PNG file. At this stage, you don't need to worry about the file size.
This is my first design...
Second design...
Third design...
For your information, don't create too many symbols or alphabets in your icon or the design is too complicated, else it will become a mess and look like a stack of shit when it transformed to a Favicon as small as 16 x 16 pixel.
Second step, you need make a small 16 x 16 pixel or 32 x 32 pixel GIF or PNG file that is associated with your side. The website below is able to help you with less hassle.
Third step, go to your own "http://www.blogger.com/edit-profile.g", go to Dashboard, edit user profile, and upload the downloaded Favicon file.
Forth step, copy the icon's URL.
Sixth step, go to BlogSpot layout, click on "Edit HTML" tag.
and look for this code as shown below.
Seventh step, add the below code just after the above one, don't forget to paste your icon's URL in the code. Like this.
That's all, simple, isn't it?
The icon will show up in your book mark as well, if the reader has ton of bookmarks, it will help your blog to stand out among all those blogs without a Favicon.
Enjoy!
